The CBT-friendly classic. Rideable at 17 on L-plates, it sips fuel, never misses a beat, and is about as easy as two wheels gets.

The on-ramp to riding.
On the road

Light, nimble and easy, the PCX is perfectly judged for town. It's slow by motorway standards but ideal for the commute it's designed around.

The automatic bit

Twist-and-go CVT with idling-stop — as simple as two wheels get. Rideable at 17 on a CBT and L-plates, with no gear knowledge required at all.

Living with it

Astonishing fuel economy, bulletproof reliability and a low price make it the default first set of wheels. Basic suspension is about the only real concession.

The verdict

The default first set of wheels for a reason: cheap to buy, almost free to run, utterly dependable, and rideable on a CBT. The on-ramp to riding.
