XMAX 300

£6,500 fromScooterCVT (twist & go)licence A2
65Power Index
Tier C · #24

Light, willing and well-equipped. One of the most popular A2 automatics in Britain, and an easy bike to recommend to anyone starting out.

Near-faultless at the money.
On the road

Light, willing and genuinely fun to nip about on, the XMAX is one of the easiest bikes to recommend to a new rider. Modest top speed, but more than enough for town and commute.

The automatic bit

Twist-and-go CVT keeps everything effortless, and the equipment — TFT, keyless, adjustable screen — is generous for the price.

Living with it

Frugal, well-finished and hugely popular, with strong used demand. The seat can feel firm over long distances, but otherwise there's very little to criticise.

The verdict

A near-faultless mid-size commuter scooter: light, frugal, nicely finished and genuinely fun to nip about on. Hard to beat at the money.
