Yamaha's riotous CP3 triple with trigger-shift Y-AMT. It keeps the hooligan character but loses the clutch lever and the fluffed shifts.
The CP3 triple is a riot — torquey, vocal and eager to lift its front wheel. The MT-09 is light and aggressive, a proper hooligan's tool that happens to be very affordable.
Y-AMT keeps a real gearbox but ditches the clutch lever: bang up and down on the bar triggers, or let it shift automatically with cheeky auto-blips. It suits the manic triple beautifully.
Strong value, low running costs and a huge aftermarket. The firm, focused ergonomics and a tendency for auto mode to hold gears a little long are the only real gripes.
The most fun you can have clutchless for the money. Y-AMT suits the MT-09's manic triple brilliantly — bang through gears on the triggers or let it auto-blip.
